Russian Through Theater

Language Acquisition and Literary Analysis Through Performance

In this course, language learning is integrated with creativity, storytelling, and performance. Here’s what your child will learn:

Approach & Methodology

  • Classical Foundations: Program is informed by professional training at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in Moscow, incorporating the methodologies of Stanislavsky, Michael Chekhov, and the Vakhtangov School.
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Students analyze character motivations, asking why characters make choices and how stories could unfold differently.
  • Life Skills Integration: Focuses on exercises that develop fundamental skills valuable for everyday life: attention, concentration, observation, imagination, and creative problem-solving.

Core Components

  • Literature Exploration: Reading age-appropriate Russian texts, discussing core themes, characters, and complex narrative structures.
  • Language Development: Contextual and experiential vocabulary building, speaking and listening exercises, and active reading comprehension.
