A Brain-Based Approach to Parenting

January 10 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Parenting today can feel like a full-time identity crisis. One day you’re trying to be gentle and endlessly patient. The next day you worry you are being too soft. Then you hear you are supposed to be “authoritative but not authoritarian,” stay calm but firm, involved but not a helicopter, and somehow still raise a resilient, successful, emotionally intelligent child. No wonder so many of us feel confused and exhausted

We invite you to a special fundraising workshop designed to cut through the noise and focus on what children truly need from their caregivers.

Workshop topics:

  • A clear comparison of common parenting styles, and why many families feel pulled between extremes.
  • A simple look at how your child’s brain develops, including impulse control, planning, and problem-solving.
  • The Calm-Bold-Consistent parenting model:
Calm: regulate yourself to help your child regulate.
Bold: set clear boundaries with meaningful choices.
Consistent: use predictable, brain-friendly limits and consequences.
  • Practical examples and ready-to-use scripts for mornings, homework, screens, and transitions.

All proceeds from this workshop will support Lumen Academy, helping staff and children access the tools they need to thrive.
