On October 4, the stage at Lumen Academy will also host a performance by the senior group of Abajour Theatre — «Репетиция. Мы просто поиграем…» (The Rehearsal. We’re Just Playing…).

Our teacher Jenya Shekhter, who teaches Theater for Life and Make It at Lumen Academy, also directs Abajour Theatre, a Russian-language youth theater group. Its senior ensemble is made up of teenagers ages 14–17.

«Репетиция» (The Rehearsal) was created to give each young actor the opportunity to work with challenging dramatic material while remaining part of a strong ensemble. The performance brings together texts by different playwrights, physical theater, music, and movement.

The group presented «Репетиция» earlier this year at the Orange Summer Youth Theatre Festival, and on October 4 they will perform it here, on the Lumen Academy stage.

The performance is in Russian, but Jenya warmly invites all Lumen teachers, students, and parents to come and see another side of her theater work — and to meet her senior actors on stage.
