Our afterschool program runs from 3:00 – 5:45, Monday – Friday, and is open to anyone age 5 to 12.
We offer transportation if multiple students from the same location are interested.

Afterschool activities include:
Snack: Students staying in aftercare will receive a nutritious snack: fruit, veggies, cheese, crackers, yogurt, etc.
Outdoor play: Students will have a minimum of 30 minutes of outdoor play time on our playground.
Homework: Students will be able to finish their homework with the help of teachers and staff.
Reading time: Independent readers will have time to complete their daily reading assignments. Beginning readers can pair up with older students or with a staff member for guided reading.
Games: Students who have completed homework and reading will have access to a large assortment of table games and puzzles.
Crafts: We will have a craft activity planned for each day of after-care. For example: origami, perler beads, clay modeling, etc.

For Lumen students, the following afterschool clubs are included in tuition:
Math team with Rita Dunn: Learn about non-standard math topics such as fractals, combinatorics, binary numbers, cryptography, etc.
Prepare for various math competitions including Math Kangaroo (for grades 1-8), Noetic (for grades 2-8), NEML (for grades 4-8), MOEMS (for grades 4-8), IMLEM (for grades 6-8), Mathcounts (for grades 6-8), and AMC 8 (for grades 6-8).
Book club with Judy Gatlin and Kim Brown: Read and discuss books chosen by member of the club. Book clubs are divided by grade level and facilitated by members of our English faculty: Judy Gatlin (younger groups, on Monday), Kim Brown (older group, on Tuesday).
Cooking club: Each week, students learn different cooking techniques by making (and eating) at least one recipe (including breakfast and lunch items and desserts).
Knitting/sewing club: Learn how to knit, sew, and crochet. Students will work on a project of their choice (hat, scarf, stuffed animal, etc.).
The following activities will be available for an additional fee.
Group classes: $30/hour || Semi-private (2-4 students): $40/hour || Private (piano, violin, vocal): $50 for 1/2 hour
Chess with Dima Barash: Small classes allow students to develop their skills and play against one another.
Theater “Wandering Lampshade” with Jenya Shekhter (classes in Russian): Under the guidance of our theater teacher, students will select, cast, rehearse, and perform a number of short plays throughout the year.
Piano (private classes) with Ainur Tulendiyeva: Half-hour or hour long lessons available.
Violin (private classes) with Ainur Tulendiyeva: Half-hour or hour long lessons available.
Vocal lessons (private classes) with Maria Kotova: Half-hour or hour long lessons available.
Tennis (semi-private) with Haim Zion: Small-group instruction with a tennis coach.
Woodshop/engineering with Jeremy Dunn: Hands on projects, based on demand, such as: birdhouses, CO2 cars, balsa wood bridges, geodesic dome, Rube Goldberg devices, solar powered ovens. Students will also learn how to create 3D models using Google SketchUp (CADD)
Magical Journey into Photography for Kids with Nati Punina: Join the ArchWizard to explore the enchanting world of Imagica. Master photography skills and tricks to capture the essence of this magical realm. Visit Four Magical Lands:
